




HISTORY
The NC Desert Clown Unit, a.k.a. the Carolina Clown Crewe, was established on November 7, 2022 under the leadership of HPIP Jay Johnson, Imperial Deputy of the Desert. It was his vision that a Desert Clown Unit be formed to actively engage with the communities throughout the Desert of North Carolina. His hope was also to have the unit represent us during the next Imperial Session Street Parade to be held in August 2023.

The Carolina Clown Unit travel throughout the Desert of North Carolina participating in parades, visiting nursing homes, Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Hospitals, Festivals, and so much more. Each year, the Unit holds an in-person make-up workshop for its members during the Desert’s Gala Days. Members of the Unit also participate in clown activities during the annual Imperial Session held every August, including the Parade of Stars, and Evening Street Parade.
In addition to bringing joy and laughter to people of all ages, the Unit also spends time serving the community by preparing food and serving at homeless shelters.
